Immersive Storylab is collaborating with creative technology company Meyouandus, on a project with Virgin Trains East Coast and AR specialists Corporation Pop, that looks at placing augmented content within and outside a moving rail carriage.
The Fantasia Express and AR train kit is a 12-month project funded by the government’s Department for Transport to explore innovation within the rail industry and is part as part ‘First of a Kind Innovate UK scheme’ to explore the future possibilities of new technologies. This project is looking at how augmented reality storytelling experiences can be envisioned and realised within transport of the future.
By focusing on AR delivered through the lens of an individual’s mobile device, this project will also ask questions about how future mixed reality experience may be embedded within moving vehicles. The project will reveal new story worlds in transport, encourage exploration of place and act as an exemplar for the possibilities of mixed reality experiences on public and private transport in the future.
Using the power of technology built into today’s mobile phones, the R&D project will show the potential artificial intelligence enhancing the digital experience of place.
