Our team worked with perceptual psychologist Rob Black, from a company called Realspace, to develop a unique new way of viewing a piece of cinematic history

In 1897 the pioneering Lumiere brothers famously filmed the world’s first tracking shot to capture the magic of the world’s first electric overhead railway – the Liverpool Overhead Railway (LOR). The shot is a continuous record of the expansive liverpool docks and is hugely significant part of the heritage of industry in the UK.

The team created a new way to watch the footage, using a perceptual psychology trick, to make the film appear in three dimensions. Creating depth to enable people to experience.

We then placed this into a virtual reality headset for an immersive experience with the past.
